Strategic Subsurface Characterisation

Since 2016, Dropstone has been a committed partner of the Industrial Services of Geneva (SIG) within the framework of the cantonal GEothermies.ch programme.

Through sustained projects of hydrogeological investigations, we have contributed to the strategic assessment of geothermal potential and to a refined conceptual understanding of the principal aquifer systems across the canton.

Our work has encompassed the major Rhône aquifers — Montbrillant, Charmilles, Saint-Jean, Lancy and Onex — as well as the transboundary aquifer systems of the Genevois and Puplinge sectors (Thônex, Eaux-Vives).

We have also undertaken detailed investigations of the Montfleury aquifer (Bellevue, Petit-Saconnex), advancing the structural and hydraulic characterisation of these complex groundwater bodies.

“The first borehole, fully cored, reached the molasse formation at a depth of 103 metres. It provides valuable site-specific data and complements the hydrogeological characterisation of the Puplinge shallow aquifer, which our office has been investigating for more than a year.”
